Access control
Today, it is difficult to imagine an institution, business, residential building or even a family home without at least some form of access control.
Access control, as the name suggests, is a level of protection that entails restricting unauthorised access by persons entering the building, and even movement itself inside the building.
System logs successful and unsuccessful attempts to access a protected building, and depending on the wishes and needs of clients, movement can be restricted by assigning levels of access to specific parts of the premises according to authorisation, function, job position etc.
The following is needed to control access: readers, electronic locks, cards, interphones, keypads, as well as software to log entries, exits or workhours depending on the purpose.
Access control, as one of the types of technical protection, provides the best results when paired with other technical protection systems, such as video surveillance, and when a human factor is actively involved in the control process.
